On March 27, 2020, Sgt. Ben Jenkins of the Nevada Highway Patrol, stopped to check on what he believed was a stranded motorist. In a senseless act of cowardice, the subject in the vehicle shot and killed Sgt. Jenkins. Sergeant Jenkins was a veteran of both the Army National Guard and Air National Guard. He had served with the Nevada Highway Patrol for 12 years. He had previously served with the Nevada State Fire Marshal Division and with the Nevada Division of Forestry. Sgt. Jenkins was an avid outdoorsman and loved helping people. He is survived by his wife, four children, five grandchildren, and mother.
Within the center of the design is the state of Nevada for which Sergeant Jenkins proudly served for many year. The words “heroes are never forgotten” which embodies what he was and how we will never forget him. And lastly the outer circular design represents the never ending love which we as the THIN BLUE LINE have for him.
